Saint’s undying love for her.
A witch—or four. The world’s most powerful spell. The creation of the unnatural.
Her undying love for Draco.
A war is brewing between the Light, the Dark and the Unknown.
In the midst of it all stands Sarenah. Her memories have returned as she rewinds the past in order to move forward with her future so she can reclaim what, or who, belongs only to her, but will she be able to accept the disturbing secrets that go along with the reminiscence?
In the midst of dragging trees, I saw Sarenah sitting on the back porch, her dress hiked up around her thighs from the heat as she was thumbing through a book. She wasn’t even acknowledging the fact that I was there, nor did she care that I could see her bare legs. She was being totally inappropriate and rude at the same time … and I liked it. I felt intrigued to my very core, so much that I had to go over and say something to her.
“Hey,” I mumbled.
Without looking up, she reiterated, “Hey.”
My frustration grew as I clenched my fingers into my palms. “Is that book so interesting that you can’t even talk to me?”
That had gotten her attention. She slammed the book shut and stood up, the dress falling back down around her ankles.
“Are you so interesting that I can’t even read my book?” Her dark eyes were wild and she was glaring at me as if she wanted me to spontaneously combust. “Don’t you have a job to do? Look at this mess.” Her eyes moved to the yard.
“All of these branches everywhere. My uncle will have your hide.”
She was so angry. I couldn’t help myself. I wiped the sweat from my brow with the back of my hand and busted out laughing.
Sarenah’s hands moved to her hips. I thought she was about to hit me.
I threw up hands up in defense. “I’m …” The laughter got the best of me again. “I’m sorry, Sarenah.” I flashed her an apologetic grin. “It’s just, I think this is the first time I’ve ever heard you talk so much and you’re spatting off at me like some crazy person.”
Her gaze had softened then. She bit her bottom lip so she wouldn’t crack a smile herself. “A crazy person, huh?”
I nodded, stopping to really get a good look at Sarenah’s face, her stunning features and the way her dark eyes popped out in a terrific way. This was Rebecca’s sister? I had been missing out. Sarenah’s strange ways evaporated into enticement before me.
I spent the rest of the evening listening to Sarenah talk as I took all of it in. The tree branches were still scattered all over the yard, but I doubted her uncle would be back anytime soon to discover the mess. Everyone knew he lived at the saloon. She talked mostly about her parents. She had a deep ache from the loss inside of her. She was in a great deal of pain that I felt my own heart hurting along with hers, for her. I found myself wrapping my arm around her and her actually letting me get away with it, but I wasn’t in it to try to make a move. I found myself wanting to comfort Sarenah, tell her everything was going to be okay. I wanted her to trust me and continue to confide in me. She leaned her head against my shoulder, being content to be there with me. It felt incredible as if I had been able to tame her so easily. She was feisty but now so serene. I could’ve lived in that moment forever and been completely content to just be lucky enough to be near her, to smell the flower fragrance in her hair as it fell down across my arm. I rubbed her shoulder with my fingertips. She started humming, the sound making the chaos within me only increase. It was in that moment that I had leaned over and my lips found hers. It had been brief but magnificent, and I was wondering if my mind was ever going to be the same.

Sitting up slowly, he looked at me, the concern evident. “So, if you get hurt, you just move? If you get in a fight, you just move?” For the first time, he looked afraid. Then he shook his head. “It sounds lonely to me. It sounds like you go to great lengths to avoid dealing with feelings.” He edged closer to me, pushing my long dark hair out of my face. “Haven’t you ever had anything in your life worth sticking around for?” He cupped my face in his hand. I reached up and held it there for a moment with my eyes closed.
That was a lot to consider. That was a lot to analyze. “I left home after graduation because I wanted a change. I needed more excitement in my life. Jolie and I agreed to never live in the same state twice. There was no need, not with fifty states to choose from,” I said with a shy smile.
“And if you ran out of states?” he asked with a raised brow.
“There’s always the Caribbean, then Europe,” I said with a shrug.
“Okay,” he began slowly. “This is a good start. This is what I want…to get to know you.”
Shaking my head in confusion, I asked, “What?”
“Renegotiating our terms. I want to get to know you. All the boring stuff…life by the typical stats: name, date of birth, occupation, last known address…phone number, email, that kind of thing. I want it all with you, Sin. I want the possibility of forever wrapped in a hundred million moments.
Haley had grabbed at her chest and was now attempting a smile, but couldn’t quite pull it off. “Damn it, Haley,” he murmured as he squatted next to her desk. “I’m sorry.” Samuel struggled against reaching out to her. He closed his eyes for a moment as he imagined crushing her to his chest and burying his face in her hair. He took a few deep calming breaths, then opened his eyes.
When his gaze met hers, he found her eyes welling up with tears and it was more than he could stand. “Come on,” he said quietly, grabbing her hand and leading her into his office. “Please sit down.” He gestured to the leather sofa that so frequently held his napping brother.
“No, I’m sorry,” Haley said, dabbing at her eyes. “I feel so silly. I don’t know why I’m crying.”
He passed her a Kleenex, then said, “Yes, you do. Take a moment, then explain it to me.”
She sighed, but soon her words came spilling out of her. “You looked so sorry and so sad and so helpless. And I can’t help but think that I put that look on your face.” She was exasperated. “All of a sudden you are treating me like blown glass, which is nice and scary and unfamiliar all at once. It’s like you really care or…” Haley faced him with a stricken look. “You know.” Her body shuddered and she eyed the door, something he had watched her do on more than one occasion.
And he now knew what it meant. “Don’t go,” he said quietly. Then he added seriously, “I don’t know anything for certain. All I know is that it is painfully obvious someone hurt you. And that,” he said almost whispering, “breaks my heart.”
Looking down at her lap, Haley sat stone still. Part of her wanted desperately to pour her heart out to him, but she feared that this knowledge would be too much for him. “Someday,” she whispered. “Someday I’d really like to tell you. But it can’t be today. And it can’t be now.” She swallowed and looked up at him with her glassy emerald eyes. “Can you be patient with
me?”That was what everyone he had come into contact with had warned him. The good doctor, her friend Ellen…and he knew he could. She was worth it. “Yes,” he responded.

Arkadia got out of the car and sat on the hood, not wanting to be in the car with Sebastian any longer then she had to. All she really wanted was for someone to “see” her. Arkadia wanted someone whose eyes lit up when they saw her, someone who loved her, cared for her, protected her, and would never ever EVER let her go. She wanted her Prince Charming. Arkadia thought maybe she could hurry this along a little bit. Glancing back at Seb, she sawhe was slowly beginning to breathe a little deeper, and not listening to her inner warning bells, Arkadia began to cast a spell.
“Snow White, Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty,
Bring to me the full of heart,
Find the love of my Prince Charming,
So, that we shall never part.”
Feeling a sudden gust of air, Arkadia wrapped her arms around herself, feeling very uncomfortable in her own skin. She got up, wandered back to the car, and slid down into her seat, glancing over at Sebastian to see how much longer it was going to be before they left. Her eyes widened as she looked around, Sebastian wasn’t there. “Now where did he go? If he is strong enough to walk, he can drive and I’m outta here.”She looked through the windshield to see where he had gone.
“CROOOOOAAKK.” Arkadia cast her eyes down to the frog sitting on the driver’s chair, her blood running instantly ice cold.
“Ooohhhhhhh, fooook me!”
“Have fun?” Arkadia jumped to the side with a small squeal. Looking over to where the voice had spoken so close to her, she saw Bohdan, a cheeky smirk on his face.
“Will you stop doing that? I’m going to have a heart attack!” She playfully smacked his arm.Oh my Gawd, his arm is like concrete. Bohdan looked like a Greek god, having obviously just come from the showers, his wet curls sticking to the back of his neck and water droplets slowly rolling down his bare chest, disappearing into the towel wrapped around his slim hips. Her eyes traveled back up his chest, caressing his well defined six-pack, observing that the cool breeze does in fact make men’s nipples erect. Her eyes jumped back up to his suddenly when he cleared his throat. Having been caught ogling his body, Arkadia smiled sweetly, a little extra flutter to her eye lashes for effect as she softly spoke.
“Cat has made sure that I am having a very exciting night. Thank you for asking.”
“Indeed, I must thank Cat for that,” he replied, turned, and disappeared back into thechanging rooms.
