Sharing Milk and a Life

I knew that I was so screwed, both literally and figuratively, the second we both realized the condom had fallen off.

Not only was I mortified but I was also grossed out. I mean, really grossed out. It wasn’t as though we got to do it all that often, and when we did, this happened.

I really felt the situation I was in was pretty shocking, especially since it was before 8am and I barely had time to shake the sleep off before I realized he was on top of me, which I thought I might like at first. Then realized that it was Tom and sex with him was usually awkward and not fun at all. I didn’t even know why I was here, with him, still. He wasn’t exactly the guys of my dreams, but that’s what happens when you become too comfortable with your life and stop desiring more. The first guy to call you “honey” becomes your boyfriend, whether that was the initial plan or not. The relationship just kind of happens and then you wake up and realize that it’s been half a decade and you are still together.

At least that’s what happened with us.

We were an odd couple, but still by most people’s definition, a couple. He was crabby and grumpy, and I was happy and optimistic, and we didn’t really fit together at all. We just existed together for reasons I, nor anyone else could understand but for the time being it worked and nobody really scrutinized it too closely.

I knew the second we realized the condom had fallen off that things just weren’t going to end well. Tom looked at me, his light brown eyes wide, and said, “Oh, shit!” as he backed up from the condom like it was a snake about to bite him in the nuts.

Really? That’s all he’s going to say to me about it? Oh, shit!?

Well, Happy freaking 25th birthday to me!

I knew I didn’t have anyone to blame but myself about staying with Tom, in a passionless, loveless relationship. I was young and maybe even a bit lazy, inand out of college when I could afford it. I was completely lost in my life with no idea how to find myself but then again, it’s not as though I was making much of an effort. I was tired of waiting tables, but I didn’t really know how to do anything else. Besides, it was good money and I didn’t have a lot of options.

There was nothing I could do about the mishap at the moment. I went downstairs without even bothering to say anything to Tom. He rolled over and was already snoring away, so I went into the kitchen and made some coffee and poured myself a bowl of cereal. I tried to pet our grey cat, Willow, who had just jumped on the counter to watch the coffee brew but he scurried away from me just out of arm’s length. He stared at me with an air of disdain while he licked his paws. I hated cats. I especially hated this selfish fat cat. He didn’t want anything to do with me unless I was feeding him. Brat!

But now, all I could think about was that stupid broken disgusting condom.

My phone buzzed.

“Happy birthday, my lovely. Party tonight. XO Anna” Anna was texting me first thing in the morning, like she usually did.

My Bestie since the first grade, Anna always remembered my birthday, usually before anyone else. I couldn’t wait to tell her what happened, but I didn’t want to do it in a text conversation. I wanted to tell her in person.

“Wait till I tell you what happened first thing this morning.”

I knew she would be shocked when I told her that Tom climbed on me, since he hadn’t done so in months. But she didn’t respond which was just as well because I didn’t really want to have a text conversation about it anyway. She was working, trying to be a responsible adult, unlike myself so she didn’t have time for my drama, even if it was my birthday.

It was 9 o’clock AM on my birthday and already, I felt depressed. My birthday usually made me feel depressed, but not this early. It typically hit by noon, but thanks to the morning mishap, it was creeping up on me a lot sooner.

It struck me that I hoped he didn’t think the morning’s disaster was my birthday present, which I could completely see! An overwhelming feeling of disdain for Tom his stupid grey cat came over me before I could help myself and I started reflecting about our relationship, as I often did when I wasn’t happy. Tom wasn’t very nice to me. He was typically harsh and condescending, and lacked a filter, no matter where he was or who as around. Whatever he was thinking, just flew out of his mouth. The other morning when he realized I forgot to buy milk he snarled at me, “What that fuck were you thinking Lys? How am I supposed to eat my damn cereal now?”

I cringed when it happened, but I realized that it was a typical scenario. It didn’t seem to matter if it was milk, laundry, what I made for dinner, or what I wore to the bar, Tom just wasn’t pleased about something. Whether it was my birthday or a random Thursday, I often wondered why we were still together, sharing cartons of milk and a life.

And now this condom incident.

My face started to get hot and I realized that I was freaking out over the thought of it. I had always been so careful with my birth control, no matter who the guy was, or how many times I slept with him!

I didn’t want to have a baby, ever. A messy, loud, time-sucking expensive baby. I always told everyone that I never wanted to have a baby. Babies were dirty and they spit up and shit everywhere. Every parent I knew was exhausted. They never slept and said their children took up every second of your time. They attempted to sound happy about it. But you could tell from the bags under their eyes and copious amounts of caffeine they needed to function, that it wasn’t as magical as they tried to make it seem. Babies were but, but was it worth the sacrifice of having sagging boobs, getting fat, and having stretched out lady parts? I had to admit that there were a few babies that were adorable, but the majority of them just had big heads, weird hair, and looked like aliens. The thought of that big head pushing itself out of a very sensitive area of the body made me want to vomit. I decided before I ever lost my virginity to Bobby Baughman, that I had no desire to ever have one of those things popping out of my body.

Meet the Author
photoI’ve been writing for as long as I can remember; journals, poems, and short stories. I always wanted to write a novel and started several over the years, but for some reason I could never see them through to the end. Until Eva came along.

I was abandoned as a child, at about the age of 2 or 3 which I strangely never gave a lot of thought to. Then I became a mother. When my youngest child was about 2, I watched him sleeping one night as I often did. But this night, I was gripped by this heart-wrenching realization that he was about the age that I was when my parents left me. Something stirred inside of me, and eventually Eva was born. “Leaving Eva” began as a story of a girl who was heartlessly abandoned, and then her story took on a life of its own. It was no longer the story that I began, and it became something else entirely.

I am happy to have finally gotten in touch with my inner Author. She’s always been there lying dormant inside of me, reflecting in other parts of my life. But now she is awake and alive, shining through me every day.

I am very fortunate to have a wonderful supportive husband, two beautiful children, and an incredible family. I have a career that is rewarding and challenging and I get to work with amazing, funny, talented people every day.

Writing has been an escape, a refuge, and an outlet for me. I feel so lucky to get to channel my energy and my creativity through my writing.

I hope that my readers will continue to stay with me through my journey as I grown and evolve. I am so grateful for the support I’ve received and the amazing people that I’ve encountered along the way!

The long flight home would have been a hell of a lot worse if it hadn’t been for the woman sitting by my side. She’d initially taken one look at my tear stained face as I sat down beside her and left me alone. However, once we’d been in the air for a couple of hours, she decided I’d wallowed in my own misery long enough.

“I don’t want to interfere honey, but are you okay?” She has such a concerned look on her face that I can’t be rude and not answer her. Besides, I feel like I do need to talk to someone. The silence of holding it all in is driving me crazy, and I know my mum won’t want to hear about it when I get home. I don’t even think she’ll notice that I’m sad.

“Not really, it’s been a rough few weeks.” She gives me a sad smile, and I laugh brokenly at the insanity of recent events. “I almost got killed, met the man of my dreams, and now I’m going home without him.” Saying the words aloud releases a fresh bout of tears. I wipe at them and try to calm myself, but images of Gabe when I last saw him make me sad.

One hand reaches over to pat my back gently, while the other offers me a tissue which I gladly accept. I’m feeling a tiny bit better already. “Well, we’ve a long flight ahead of us, why don’t you tell me all about it? A problem shared is a problem halved.” She smiles over at me. “My name’s Elle, and I’m pleased to meet you.”

I turn to look at this kind stranger. She’s beautiful, looks a little older than me with long blonde tresses falling past her shoulders. If it hadn’t been for the ripped jeans and band t-shirt I’d have sworn she was a model. Hell maybe she is, she certainly looks the part. She also has one of those personalities that you seem to warm to, instantly. My gut tells me I can trust this woman, and this time I’m going to listen to it.

She spends the next couple of hours listening to my story after I introduce myself. Her face goes through a whole host of emotions, laughter, sadness and downright shock to horror. I guess looking back, it’s the kind of thing you see in the movies or read about in books. It just wasn’t supposed to happen in real life, but it did. I’m glad she doesn’t seem critical of the MC way of life either. I think I would have been if our roles were reversed. Instead, she just seems concerned for me.

“Do you love Gabe?” She queries. I take a deep breath before answering her.

“When I left I thought I did, but was scared that it was just lust for him. By the time I got to the airport I knew it was true, I do love him.” I hunt through my bag for my phone, it’s in flight mode so I flick through some of the pictures I took during my time in Australia. I want to remember my time there. I find a picture of me and Teresa with Pres and Gabe standing behind us and show Elle. Her eyes widen as she takes in the sexy men in the picture and I nod my head. I totally understand her reaction. All that hotness in tattoos and leather is eye wideningly orgasmic.

I’ve just put my phone away when Elle takes my hand in hers, gently patting it. “It’s not too late Eve. Go home, give your daughter the biggest and longest hug, then find a way to talk to your man and see if there’s anything there on his side.”

She’s right, I need to talk to Gabe to find out how he really feels. If this is all one sided then I need to buck up my ideas and stop pining, and if it isn’t , I need to work out what to do about it.

“Thanks Elle, I feel better for talking it through with you.” Whilst I still haven’t resolved my situation, at least now I have a better idea of what to do when I get home.

I realize I’ve been monopolizing the conversation for the last few hours and feel slightly guilty. “Enough about my troubles, why don’t you tell me all about you?” I’m not just being polite, I really do want to get to know Elle better.

Elle shares that she’s a freelance writer. Her current assignment is for an online travel magazine who are doing a feature on European holidays for singles. She’s coming to the UK for a couple of weeks and staying in London, York, Newcastle and Edinburgh.

“I don’t believe it! I live in York. Can we meet up and I’ll show you the sights.” I beg. It would be great to show my new friend around, and selfishly I hope it will make my return a little less lonely. Whilst I’m happy to be seeing Elizabeth again, there’s only so much two year old chatter you can stand before needing adult company. For some reason I felt an instant connection with Elle.

“That would be great.” Elle beams at me. Her beautiful smile lights up her whole face. “We’ll sort the dates out before we land, but for now tell me more about this Ink character, he sounds yummy.”

I have to laugh at her choice of words, I’m not sure yummy is a word I’d use to describe Ink. It’s the sort of word you use to talk about a fit mother in the nursery playground, not a hunk of tattooed hotness in an MC club.

I tell her about his very short, dark hair, his muscled, tattooed arms, the hint of tattoos on his back and chest I’d caught glimpses of, but mostly about his character. Ink was my friend from the beginning, he was there for me when others turned their backs. Just thinking about Ink brings a smile to my face. Even though we went through an awkward stage when I found out his true feelings for me, I was glad we cleared it up before I left.

“Holy hell,” Elle swoons, “you’ve got to set me up with an introduction when I fly home.” It will be good to have an opportunity to chat to Ink again, so I assure Elle I’ll do my best for her. Besides, Elle’s a freaking goddess, I’m sure Ink will be grateful for the introduction.

The rest of the flight passes with mindless chatter. We find we have a lot of things in common, from favourite authors to music. By the end of the flight it feels like we’ve known each other forever. It’s the kind of closeness I used to have with Teresa and I miss that in my life.

Can a biker and a lawyer find true love amongst the chaos found in this rebellious world?
Meet the Author

Lexie’s love for writing began when she wrote her first play in fourth grade. With a big imagination and love for creating worlds, she wrote several more scripts that have placed first in contests. She loves to read but didn’t pick up a romance novel until high school and fell in love with the genre. Now she writes steamy stories, with heartfelt characters, letting her imagination take her wherever it may go.

“You look rattled.”

She shook her head. “He gets under my skin. Ever since the…” She stopped, realizing all attention was on her. “Never mind. What do you need?”

“I was going to start fixing this place up. I wanted to see if it was okay with you.” Mason glanced toward the building.

“Yeah, it’s fine.” She saw her assistant’s car pull in to the parking lot and breathed a sigh of relief. “Only on a few conditions.”

Mason chuckled. “Okay.”

“Stay away from the Skulls and stay away from McNally.”

His lips tilted up in a grin. “I don’t make promises I can’t keep.”

“I mean it. If I have to stop everything to bail you out of jail, I’m going to be pissed.”

He licked his lips. “Then I’ll promise to stay out of jail.”

“Leave McNally alone.” She didn’t like the look on his face when he questioned her about him. Mason had a way of fixing things. She didn’t need a hurt officer linked to her as well.

“Tell me something.” Mason put his back to his goons and faced her. “Does he have the hots for you?”

Addison glanced toward her assistant and wished Ashley would pick up the pace some. “You need to stay away from him. He does not like the MC and now that I’m involved, who knows.”

“I’m not worried about that little shithead. You shouldn’t be either. I’m protecting you. You’re mine.”

Ashley’s eyes widened and Addison grabbed Mason’s arm, dragging him out of earshot. “You are not with me. I’m not yours, no matter what happened between us. I’ve told you that it will not happen again.”

The grin returned and she damn near melted into a puddle of goo. He leaned down so his mouth hovered inches from hers. He smelled so good, Addison had to force herself to remain upright. She knew he could make women drop on their backs and spread their legs with the mere thought of his mouth or his cock, but she didn’t need that. He’d scratched the itch. Now she needed to break free and get back to her regular life.

“You say that like you mean it, but I’m not completely convinced.”

***Part 1 of a filthy, seductive new serial***

Meet the Author

Romance junkie, mom, and legal eagle. I’ve got a dirty mind and I’m not afraid to use it.

“We meet again.”

I stop dead, staring in shock. For a moment, I wonder if I’ve lost my mind completely and have conjured him up out of my imagination. But no, the gorgeous man from the store is sitting in Carter’s empty office, watching me with a smile.

“Do you want to come in?” he asks, looking amused.

“Uh, sure,” I stutter, quickly darting into the room. My heart races being near him again. He’s all I’ve thought about for the last twenty-four hours, and now I can’t resist sneaking a look to drink him in again.

God, he looks good. He’s wearing another smart suit, a crisp white shirt open at his neck, contrasting with the deep gold of his tan. There’s bronzed stubble along his jaw, and his blonde hair is ruffled out of place — contrasting his impeccable attire.

A man of contradictions: smooth and rough all at once. A man who likes control — and wouldn’t be gentle about it.

“I didn’t introduce myself,” the stranger says, his voice a low, sexy drawl. “I’m Vaughn.”

“Keely.” I feel my cheeks burn. He casually unfolds himself from his chair and crosses the room in two short strides, hand outstretched.

I have no choice but to take it. His large fingers close around mine, warm and rough to the touch. I feel a shock as our hands meet, and look up to find his blue eyes staring intently into mine.

Deep blue, like a sapphire, or maybe like a summer’s ocean – oh God, I’m thinking like a middle schooler just looking at him.

“You’re blushing,” he murmurs.

“I rushed to get here,” I lie. I start to pull my hand away, but he holds tight. His thumb strokes softly over my palm, a shockingly intimate gesture that sends a wave of desire coursing through my body.

“You look sexy, all flustered like that,” he tells me, those blue eyes flashing with wickedness. “Like someone just fucked your brains out.”

I gasp, snatching my hand away. How does he say these things? Just hearing such brazen words, my nipples feel tight, and I’m damp between my thighs. Who talks like this? And why do I like it?

“What makes you think you can talk to me like that?” I turn away. “I wonder where Carter is,” I say, looking around. There’s no sign of him — or his assistant. Which can mean only one thing. “You’ll have to make another appointment,” I say over my shoulder.

I go to the door, eager to put safe distance between us.

“Why can’t you take the meeting?” Vaughn’s voice stops me.

“I’m not a lawyer.”

“You don’t want to be alone with me.” He watches me, not taking his eyes off me for a second.

I squirm under his gaze. “I’m not qualified. I don’t even know your case…”

“It’s just a simple incorporation,” Vaughn dismisses my protests. “Unless you want me to tell your boss how you said I had to leave.”

“I didn’t say that.”

“You meant it, though.” Vaughn strolls closer, looking at me with a glint of challenge in his eyes. “What do you say, Keely? Or are you worried spending five minutes with me will make you drop your panties and spread those gorgeous legs for me?”

Founding Fathers, when Benjamin Franklin tries to steal the magic crystal.
Aurelius and Syrius hunt down Celphian breeding grounds, hoping to
eliminate them before Commander Rydar builds an army large enough to start the
war to extinguish the hybrids.  They are pulled away from their mission
when they receive a bad vibe about a dear friend and rush to save him.
With Reli growing up before her eyes, the reality of her mortality
becomes an obsession for Emily. She begins taking alien blood injections,
trying to achieve the same longevity that Liza had. Unfortunately, all it seems
to do for Emily is make her a little cuckoo, which is never good when running
from Celphians.

Aurora Conspiracy Trilogy
Co-Authors: Ginger Gelsheimer, Christina Keats

Quest of The Hybrid: Aurora Conspiracy Trilogy – Book One

Inspired by Raiders of the Lost Ark,
Ancient Aliens and the Hunger Games

“If you are a fan of
science fiction such as Doctor Who, Stargate Atlantis and other book and movie
franchises (namely Indiana Jones and the X-Files), then you will find this
novel incredibly exciting.” – Lucinda (Amazon reviewer)

The clock ticks down for 19-year-old Jesse Proctor as she embarks
on a quest to discover the truth behind her mother’s disappearance into a
windmill 10 years before–the very windmill conspiracy theorists believe an
alien met fate with in 1897 in Aurora, Texas. Desperate to find answers, she
uncovers an enigma–a dimension portal, which opens the doorway to some of the
most mysterious places in the universe including: the Bermuda Triangle, the
Pyramids of Giza and Atlantis. Could it also lead her to the love of her life?

After Jesse meets Aurelius, an alien from Planet Erebus, she
discovers a secret that will throw her into the middle of an age-old war with
the Celphians, who desires to extinguish the hybrid-infested human race. Danger
and mayhem await them at every turn. To make matters worse, her mother is being
held captive on Planet Celphi.

Or is she?

Jesse Proctor

“She’s ready, sir… these things don’t affect her.” – Sonya
Jesse represents the Proctor family well with her independence
and tenacity.  Very much like her ancestor Emily, who we fell in love with
in Episode 1, Jesse is curious and adventurous and won’t take no for an answer.
As writers, we both love Jesse and have thoroughly enjoyed
following her on this great adventure.  She is surely some combination of
both of us, as well as our daughters, and we are excited and strive to see her
reach her full potential.
She is a woman on a mission with a drive
that can’t quit
The audience joins Jesse Proctor on her adventure as she winds
through the Aurora Conspiracy trilogy.  She matures through her experience
from a young girl to amazing future leader.

“Emily stared at the victim and couldn’t understand the electric
vibe of energy that ran through her body. His skin was beautiful, olive in
color beneath its iridescence, and the shimmer of his violet eyes captivated
– Emily Proctor
Aurelius has known and loved the Proctor family through the
generations since 1897.  He watches over them and does his best to keep
them safe.
We both love Aurelius, as he is our true muse.  There were
times we honestly joked about and felt as though he was out there somewhere
channeling his story to us.  It literally spewed out at times to where we
just couldn’t stop creating.
He is to Jesse, as OB1 was to Luke
Aurelius forms the framework for the entire franchise, as it was
his crash in 1897 that kicked off the Proctor legacy.  He represents age,
wisdom and exploration and provides the audience with something to hold on to,
a way to believe that Jesse will be okay.

“She held his hand in hers. Her skin became warm and she could feel
the heat surge through her veins.”
– Emily’s inner thoughts
Emily lived a very secluded life on the farm. Doing her duties
and chores she kept to a schedule. In her free time however, she found solace
by the nearby stream in the wooded area that took up a good junk of their land.
It was there that she found peace. It was there that she had dreams of the
future and outside possibilities beyond the farm. It was also there that she
could lose hope in the same day. Until of course…her day finally came-Aurelius.
Emily’s belief in her purpose is what gave us as writers the
motivation to make her a key part of to the story. She took her chance and did
it responsibly and without greed. She understood what was right and did just
that, never veering from that path. Heartbroken yet strong she helped to raise
our future.
A quiet dream can sometimes save the world
Take in that small bit of time where it all began. Respect Emily
as you would any mother that nurtured, cared, and believed in herself and the
love she was given.
“Tis better to have loved and lost than never to have loved at
” – Alfred Lord Tennyson

James Proctor

“Dude, really? Why don’t you use a shotgun like normal people?” – James
James keeps to himself for the most part. Almost like he was
waiting for something. Stubborn like his sister, he doesn’t like to step down
from his beliefs. His willingness to change, however, comes with the new path
life takes him down as a once quiet and stable home he felt he was undertaking,
turns into a gateway to new worlds and thoughts that truly take him outside the
Invigorated and unadmittably scared, James will stop at nothing
to make sure his sister is safe. And he too, has the hunger for truth as he can
finally admit, and won’t take no for an answer.
Letting James loose and come to life was a fun part of this
story. Like many of us, it’s a step out to admit you believe in the
unbelievable. As an audience, in his own way, James learns the truth and has
faith in what he truly believes in. His loyalty cannot be matched. Step out
with James and together, we can see what others deemed impossible.
A man with a quiet past gives into the
truth out of love…and loyalty
The audience will appreciate James for his physical abilities,
his charms but mostly his struggle with change. Like him, they will learn that
to truly know what is out there in the world, one needs to be open. Against all
odds, he finds himself willing to do just that.

““He wasn’t really my brother, but he might as well have been; the
three of us had been musketeers since I was five.  Marcus was a natural
charmer with his celebrity smile and dark shaggy surfboard hair and he loved
messing with me.”
– Jesse Proctor
Marcus grew up around the Proctors from the time he was eight
when his mother, older sister and he moved to Aurora to live with his
grandparents after his father died unexpectedly.  His family had known the
Proctors for generations.
Marcus is no doubt Ginger’s favorite secondary character for his
big smile and playful personality.  He’s also a protector and has a deep
heart which becomes more and more evident as the story plays out.
He’s the knight in shining armor
who sometimes needs saving
by the damsel in distress
We wanted Marcus to be fun for the audience.  His long
shaggy hair makes him look like something off the beach from California and his
pearly whites and Cheshire grin are irresistible to most women, but not to
Jesse.  The cat and mouse game between them was without a doubt one of the
most fun to create.  But he’s also solid as a rock and a strong foundation
for Jesse when the going gets tough.

Ginger Gelsheimer became part
of the surf & ski writing team in 2009, when the Aurora Conspiracy
franchise came to life over a great bottle of vino. What if he lived? We
wondered about the alien that crashed into a windmill in 1897… and that’s
how Aurelius was born.
With writing partner Christina
Keats, Ginger took a leap of faith and embarked on her own adventure of a
lifetime with the Aurora Conspiracy trilogy, kicking her corporate job to the
curb. Together, these ladies have explored the outer limits of where life
could actually take them. The freedom and boundary-less adventure in Aurora
Conspiracy has truly become a reflection of the freedom they have demanded
and achieved in their lives.
Ginger has also started another
series called The Dark Days, which is loosely based on a prequel to The Hunger
Games. She has written three episodes so far with her daughter, Taylor
Ginger lives in Tampa, Florida
where the ocean inspires imagination. She lives with Taylor and a house full
of black furry animals and four huge fish in the pond.
Stories, movies, writing and
the world of creativity have always been a part of Christina’s life and in
2009 things took a natural shift. The formation of the “Surf & Ski
writing team” set things in motion with her writing partner, Ginger,
when Aurora Conspiracy came to life.
A warm Colorado evening and the
curiosity of the unknown led to the birth of Jesse, Aurelius and the truth.
The Aurora Texas crash in 1897 may be known throughout the world but the true
facts of what really happened are not. Hence, the quest to bring out the
truth and its possibilities began.
From that moment on, they
explored these possibilities through the wild legends and great heroes of
Earth, time and space. This adventure continues to unfold between the coast
of Florida and the Rockies of Colorado, and this Surf & Ski team are
excited to share these new stories with you!
Christina lives her life with
true passion and where all things are due a good exploration. Living in
Colorado and an undeniable nature fanatic, Christina finds her solace in her
home, her family and her spirit for life’s possibilities, believing nothing
is impossible and nothing is untouchable.

How we came up with the idea for the Aurora Conspiracy Trilogy and
Prequel Series…

We came up with the idea
for Aurora Conspiracy on one of our “make sure to stay friends by seeing each
other frequently” visits in Colorado. Some good wine and great chatter left us
yearning for more than normal conversation. As we settled into the alien and
conspiracy TV shows that have always peaked our interest, it was as if direct
message flew in and plopped right down beside us. One particular story about a
spaceship that crashed in Aurora, Texas in 1897, caught our attention. The
evidence that it had actually happened was overwhelming – you had to try hard
not to believe it. We thought “what if he lived?” …and the next minute,
Aurelius was born. Now, he is our muse, renting space in our heads, and he is
LOUD and “high-maintenance”, demanding that his story gets told.

That sunny and relaxing
evening turned into a high-energy night with high-speed momentum. We had no idea
it would lead to a project we will probably work on for a decade. From the one
story we grew and began to intertwine other conspiracies and events from
history into an epic journey that runs through generations of the Proctor
family who nursed Aurelius back to health when he originally crashed.

“Sounds like you have it all figured out, don’t you?”
A satisfied smile crossed his face. “Uh-huh.”
“I bet you have a dirty mouth, too?”
By the look on his face, it was fairly obvious he was about to say something dirty. “Sweetheart, you’d be surprised what that mouth can get me and what it can do for you.”
“Wow.” I threw my head back. “You’re so fucking arrogant.”
“Arrogance is a blessing.”
“How so?”
“No matter what you say” — he winked — “you want a man with confidence.”
He had me there.
A raucous burst of laughter brought me out of my island boy trance.
I brought the glass to my lips, finishing my drink, and watched a group of intoxicated girls grind on each other. Next to them, there was a group of men watching, drooling, and then taking them home.
“A girl really did a shot off a guy’s dick?”
Tyler grinned and held up the bottle of tequila in one hand, the other one undoing his belt buckle. “Wanna try?”
“Oh, uh.” I swallowed, and I thought he sensed maybe I wasn’t drunk enough for that, but it did sound appealing to me. I wouldn’t mind putting my mouth on him for sure, the thought tempting, even if I just envisioned it in my mind.
Before I had a lot of time to think about it, Tyler looked around the bar. It was empty for the most part, so he patted the bar. “Hop up here, city girl.”
“On the bar?”
He raised an eyebrow, setting the bottle of tequila on the bar and then placing two limes and salt beside it. “Yeah, what the fuck does ‘hop up here’ mean in city terms?”
“All right, let’s do it.” I gave a nod, as if to prepare myself.
“Off my dick?” You couldn’t miss the eagerness in his voice.
“Uh, no. Something else.”
I jumped slightly when his hands touched my exposed knees, pulling them apart. He then grabbed the salt shaker and made me get on the bar. He moved between my legs, putting his hands on my thighs again. With a firm grip he slid me forward and stood so his chest was in line with mine, so close I could finally smell him. He smelled like summer, warm sand, rum and cologne, fresh and clean.
He let go of me and then drew back far enough that he could raise his hands to pull his T-shirt over his shoulders. Goddamn, was he muscular and tanned. Dark markings scattered his chest and arms with what appeared to be about twenty or thirty different tattoos. I didn’t have a single tattoo, and the thought of getting even one terrified me. But part of me was really excited right then because now I knew he didn’t have a cat’s ass on his stomach. I could work with this.
I snuck a peek at his body again, just one more and proudly noticed him doing the same thing.
Oh yeah, I could definitely work with this.
We stared at each other for a moment, Zac Brown Band bellowing through the bar.
I was fairly modest in my attempt at a body shot and did one off his neck. Licking his soft but rough skin, I took my shot and then sucked on the lime in my hand. He said nothing, showed no real reaction other than his arms tensing when I licked his neck.
We sat there, staring at each other.
It was his turn.
Slowly he bent down to my neck, his lips on my collar bone, but he didn’t stay there. He surprised me when he moved lower, and lower. When he reached my thighs, he slowly spread them apart, his thumbs on my inner thighs, just inches above my knees.
I moaned, tossing my head back. “Of course you’d do that.”
He looked up at me, his head between my legs. “Nice panties.”
“Stop looking.”
I went to close my legs, but he caught them in his firm grip, prying them apart. “I don’t think so. You owe me.”
His mouth moved in, closer, and then closer. The heat from his breath and the humidity had me sweating like crazy. No way did I want his mouth down there. I tried to pull him up by his shoulders, but he knocked my hands away and shook his head.
With his mouth on my left thigh, he slowly licked a trail upward until his nose hit the bottom of my dress. Drawing back just slightly, he reached beside him for the salt, sprinkling it over the path his tongue had just made. Reaching up he placed the lime in my mouth.
Is he serious?
Yep. Looks like it.
I took the lime, willingly. He grabbed the shot and lowered himself once more between my legs. Wanting to tease him, and maybe torture myself, I spread my legs a little farther apart.
He smiled, his eyes a little darker as his hair fell in his face. Nothing was being said, but this was by far the sexiest shot I’d ever experienced.
With absolutely no hesitation, he licked the path he made with the salt, his tongue flat and wet against my overly heated skin. The sensation shot through my body, causing me to jump on contact. He noticed and gripped my thighs a little tighter, holding me still.
Pulling away, he threw his head back and took the shot, and then brought himself to my mouth. At some point I had bitten down on the lime; the juice squeezed down my chin and neck. Licking my neck, then chin, capturing the juices, he then took the lime, smiling the entire time.
Our lips never touched, and I was sadly disappointed. I wanted to kiss him.
He leaned toward me and brought his lips to my ear. “Now imagine that…higher….” His left hand, which was on my thigh, still moved higher until the pad of his thumb was between my legs. He stroked his thumb over my clit, separated from his skin by the thin wetness of my panties, with just enough pressure that I wanted to scream and then shove his entire hand up there.  To say my body was now officially more liquefied than the drinks that this delicious looking bartender served to his customers would be the biggest understatement of the night. I needed him as much as I needed my next breath. Praying that this night ended the way I’d envisioned because this ache wasn’t going to go away on its own.

Something Worth Saving
It was one night, one fate and something tragic destroying something beautiful.
Heavy sheets of smoke curling and rolling together constricting my visions of this life I had.
You see that there?
That wrenching pain in your gut knowing not everything as it seems?
Look closer. That nervous energy you now have, stumbling over words you can’t say, a voice muffled under a mask, a moaning plea to be saved, slurred words on the tip of your tongue, there’s the something tragic.
When I have nothing left to give, nothing left to say, it’s him that brings me back to the moment, in the arms of my firefighter, the warmth of his heart and body, struggling to save his family.
Just Enough
Coming Summer 2014
I want out of this town.
I want to leave and never look back.
He doesn’t knock when he comes in, he never needs to. He knows, as well as I do, my door is always open, waiting.
I crave him. I do. He knows this, I think, I know, and I believe he craves me too. Why else would he come back?
It’s his determination and his will that gets me. That determination keeps me waiting for him in a dreary bay. I’ve always heard my friends say they wanted the rich guy to take them out of this small town that seems to hold us all captive.
Lincoln wasn’t that guy. At first look, he’s a fisherman, married to the sea and weighted by her waves.
Who is he to me?
He’s someone who gives just enough.
He shows me a different way of thinking. A way to give more than just enough.
